How to adjust budget with campaign success

Hi,

Am I right in thinking that throwing a lot of money at a campaign at the start is the best thing to do in order to optimise the keywords and ads quicker? For example, instead of spending a fixed £100 a day initially, I initially spent £500 a day and gradually reduced that to £100 as the campaign gains quality.

I suppose the question is, are time and money interchangable when it comes to honing a campaign?

Sorry if this is an obvious "yes" but I'm a relative adwords noob.

Plenty of research would remove the need to do this. Use competitor analysis tools, Google trends or do some tests on Google your self. I always find the first couple of months are always testing the water.
