Not working for me - how about you?

anyone having the same problem?

I have about a dozen linked adwords / analytics accounts that I have access to or have used / set up in the past.

Right now, I can't get the "linking" to work no matter what I do.

Is there an old way, or a trick that I have forgotten?

Or is it just broken?

I have now linked and relinked this particular AdWords account with 3 different email addresses (2 of them brand new gmail accounts) and I am still not connecting when I click on the Reporting / Google Analytics tab in Adwords.

And yes, I am administrator on both accounts.

This is the message I get:

"Although this AdWords account is linked to an Analytics account, your AdWords login email address is not listed as a user on that Analytics account. Please contact the administrator of the Analytics account and request that they add you as a user to this Analytics account."

There is absolutely no question that I am listed as a user and I am the administrator - so what do I do next?

Oh where oh where is AWA when you need them?

the email you're using to log into adwords matches that analytics user's email? just saying if they're different email addys, and you're accessing GA from within AdWords, you'd get this message.

login to your google account - not adwords, not analytics - but the base g account that your adwords email belongs to. there, do you see both adwords and analytics listed?

YES - it shows both on one account. On the main account, I click on Analytics and it asks me if I want to set up an account. I already have one on that account - this is another way of seeing what the problem is.

On the second (newest) account, it shows Adwords but Analytics cannot be found!

and - I have to say now I see this on another account.

I've come to rely on the REPORTs tab in AdWords that leads to the linked Analytics account.

I do this constantly - and yesterday it stopped working (and gave the same error message) on one of my other accounts. OUCH.

I sure hope it is me (or my browser) that is doing something stupid, because otherwise, something is really screwy.

yep - so the newest account - call it "newaccount" has working logins for newaccount@gmail.com for both AdWords and Analytics.

When I come into the master account page (https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount)

I can see both AdWords and Analytics - and I can click through to both. But if from Adwords I use the Reporting / Google Analytics tab, I get the "sign up / create new account" page (https://adwords.google.com/analytics/provision/) that has been vexing me for months.

Clearly something is broken at the 'PLex as I just tested this on another machine for this account and run into the exact same dead end - and then double checked it on IE (which I never use on that machine) so it is clear of any corrupted cookie crumbs.

I was hoping this troubleshooting was going to show a Chewy-style error - but noooo...

Is it possible that Analytics account is already linked to another AdWords account?

This is not something you're going to be able to fix here, you need to keep hammering on support via email.

Netmeg, that's a good thought -

There is no linking apparent to me as Analytics displays the "not set" attribute for all paid advertising.

arrg - I keep hoping I'm doing something wrong.

If only there was an approach that did not require more hammering!

To that end - please, what's the Netmeg best practice technique for picking up the right hammer and hitting just the right spot -- eg reaching out on email support? I can't afford to waste time on this cr*p!

Ok, hold up. If it says "not set" then I'm thinking it's linked somehow to something. Because on my profiles that aren't linked, it says "there is no data for this view" for paid traffic.

Go in to the settings for the profile, and look at the top under "Main Website Profile Information" Is there anything in the Applied Cost Data field?

N,

No such data field in Google Analytics Main Website Profile Information.

This field is present in other GA accounts - so it is CLEARLY not there.

And you're positive that AdWords account isn't linked to some other profile or account somewhere?

Then you're just gonna have to fill out the form and hope for a response.
