Broad Match - Phrase Match - Exact match

Much discussed I know, but is this right?

Broad Match: Red Widget - matches: red widget, three red widgets, red widgets are us, I have a redder green widget, does not match: I have a red wodget.

Phrase Match: Red Widget - matches: red widget, three red widgets, red widgets are us, does not match: red wodget

Exact Match: Red Widget - matches: red widget, does not match: three red widgets, red widgets are us, red wodget.



Just to make me happy, does that make sense and more to the point, is it correct?

Mostly right. Except the broad match nowadays is so very broad that it not only might match red wodget, but probably blue wodgets and pink wudgets unless you add them as negatives.

Does "red widget" match [red widgets] in your Phrase match example?

I don't think so, but could be wrong. I would think you would need "red widgets"

In your examples:

Broad: it MIGHT trigger "red wodget" and "redder green widget". No way to tell really. Don't forget it will very likely trigger on "red widgets" (plural) and surely on "where can I buy widgets that are red". It might also trigger as Netmeg said on just "widget". It could also expand to "thingamabob".

On the phrase match, the plural forms would NOT trigger. At least, they're not suppose to. You got the exact correct.
