I was reading the thread about the test of four premium listings at the top and the thread about movements in the organic serps so I went to do some checking on my target keywords.

I'm seeing now up to 35 adword ads on the right when my searching preferences are set to return 50 natural results! I can see this returned regularly on terms with many advertisers.

I get all excited about these things before realizing that it's old news. I swear I become blind to the original threads when I think I'm the first to notice. :(

I do like this feature though -- suddenly averaging 17th isn't so bad. ;)

The question here is of course how many users are NOT using the default of 10 SERP's?

Does anyone have an idea? On this forum we mostly have power users so that's not a good representation of the overall search behavior IMO.

People in Vegas accused me of consuming too much alcohol and s'wares when I had spotted this.

I can confirm that there was a 48+ hour window when this was being tested on major consumer terms during pubcon.

I'd be curious what metrics they test with these experiments. How is user experience measured? It's easy to tell if it results in more clicks to the ads or less clicks to the organic serps... I imagine it's less difficult to tell if the user is more or less pleased. (Maybe an increase in clicks on the "Dissatisfied? Help us improve" link?)

Wouldn't having 91 ads on a page hurt the click through ratio on those ads?

What are the odds of your ad being clicked out of 100 results and 91 paid ads? 1/191
