I thought I'd pass this along. I'm having my wife - a non-techie - help me with my adwords ad development.

All I did was explain the system and outline generally what needed to be in each of the three lines. And her original, unjaded viewpoint is giving us some pretty good ads. Also giving us some spectacular failures, but that's part of the game :).

She calls it 'doing the words' if that shows you what her tech level is :).

What else do we have to generate ideas for ads to test?

That would be one of the best ways to test. Have an ordinary person that actually is like real people coming across your ads.

Not sure about any better tool. A good scenario would be to have a few people to throw different ads on.

I frequently have my clients do similar things when we're trying to come up with keywords - I will tell him to ask his wife, his kids, his parents, his friends what all they'd type if they were looking for his business in Google. Usually I and my clients both have too much back info to catch everything ourselves. And no matter how much I think I've seen it all, I still get surprised by some of the search queries that come through.
