Navigating the ad approval process - "Approved (Limited)"

Inconsistent "Approved (Limited)" status, no impressions

I run a directory of businesses that repair a famous brand-name widget.

For the past six months, I've run a small campaign for "Find (brand name widget) repair". These ads have been approved with no difficulties. Recently I started a new campaign with near-identical ads, and those ads are "Approved (Limited)" and the keywords are receiving no impressions (the serving status is "No").

Dozens of other advertisers are advertising with this term (as I am in a different campaign in the same account). I tried making some insignificant changes to re-trigger the approval, and the status came back the same.

Any ideas on what I can do to get this ad running?

Maybe there's a trademark issue that has to get approval from someone first? I've never seen a "limited approval" status myself.

It's certainly a trademark issue - it's an extremely famous trademark.

The inconsistency is that I'm using this particular trademark elsewhere in my account without "limited approval", and dozens (likely hundreds) of other advertisers are using it as well.

I had a case with "Mac" where some ads would run for months, but would get disapproved after, or some would get disapproved right away.

The best is to check with Google. Ask specifically about those that are "limited".

If you point to other folks, you'll probably get canned reply about how they have the allowance. You already know they don't.
You have to be persistent.

Maybe it's a question of how it's used, if the wording in your ads is a little different.

They aren't terribly efficient; I used to have to ask for exclusions over and over for using certain word combinations in different ad groups, even though supposedly I'd been cleared for the entire account.

Agree. Probably a word or two in your ad. I believe the word "download" is one of those.

Thanks for the help -- it's good to know I'm not the only one facing challenges navigating this system. It feels very arbitrary.

I'll try an ad that is completely identical to the existing "Approved" ad, but in a different campaign, and see if that works. Only the destination URL will change (national widget repair vs. cityname widget repair).
