Am I Crazy? Yahoo and MSN were supposed to combine. Right?

Adwords, Adcenter, and Yahoo.

OK... so all of my clients are on Adwords and I've been dragging my feet to fully invest my time into either MSN or Yahoo took over the other. Then, there was the announcement a few months ago that said they were combining their search business...... MSN is the victor! YAY...

I called MSN to ask a few questions yesterday and they thought I was crazy? I went back and read all those posts and they all said the same thing that I remember.....

Is adCenter not going to supply Yahoo with it's paid search ads? Is MSN just playing dumb or did I and many other people in the industry get the wrong message?

yes, bing will power yahoo’s organic and paid search. however, it won't happen overnight. they won't officially "close" the deal until early next year, and it will take several months for the transition to be complete. last i read, migration from panama ad system to microsoft’s adcenter platform will happen in almost a year after close of the deal.

Yah, and just today the news is the Govt is going to take a closer look at the deal than was previously expected - I'd be pretty surprised if we saw any serious movement before next spring/summer.

Which hopefully gives adCenter a chance to clean up their godawful interface.

This merger is a few years away, though some aspects might appear sooner rather than later... but don't bank on it at the moment. Recent news indicates there might be a DoJ look at the agreement, and expect that to take six months or more.

However, do look at Bing, as they are getting it right these days (search). And also look at Y! as they are (from many reports) finally getting it right. Finally.

I'm in the wait and see (and work it) camp at the moment.

If you want to advertise on bing.nl in the Nederlands you must use Yahoo (Dutch version only) while in other countries you must use Adcenter.

Looks like each Yahoo country and Adcenter country manages its own platform (read: make there own decisions).
