when looking at my adword stats it says (at group level) that i have 279 impressions & no clicks for an ad group. When I click on the ad group and go into the part when the keywords are all of these impressions come under "content total" there is zero under search total (and subsequently there are no impressionc stats showing against any of my keywords) what is content total? Where does it some from & what does it tell me! If none of the impressions were the result of searches on any of my keywords where are they from?

Hpops, content total means that your impressions came from Googles content partners... this could be any website that has AdSense on it.

By default new campaigns have "content network" turned on under the campaign settings.

If you are not getting any search impressions it seems to me that the search volume is either really low, or your bid price is low and pushing you far back. If you run a search query for one of your terms and you do not show up on the first page of results that may be part of the problem.

hpops, ads are placed on content network partner sites based on an overview of all keywords in an Ad Group, taken together, rather than individual keywords. This is why you'll not see individual keyword stats for content impressions and clicks.

It's also a pretty compelling reason to organize your account so that individual Ad Groups are about only one thing. Doing this will really optimize your chances of having your ad show on highly targeted content pages, giving you a better CTR, and your best chance for a good ROI too.

And welcome to WebmasterWorld!
