Anyone else seeing the new Networking and Bidding targeting options in the Campaigns setting page?

Now you have more granular control on which devices you want your adwords ads to appear on such as laptops and desktops and/or iPhones and other mobile devices with internet browser capabilities.

Not happy about Google leaving these on by default without putting an alert in adwords letting advertisers know about the update, but I am happy about the added control.

What are your thoughts on this tweak to targeting?

Just got an update from our reps at Google. This feature extends the reach of the Google Search network to select mobile devices with full browser capabilities.

Mobile phones that require web pages to be designed for them (to fit on smaller screens) are not included in this change, but you'll still want to keep an eye on your CTR and performance given that the CTR on these devices will impact your quality score.

Best practice is to create a separate campaign and turn on this feature in one and turn it off in the other and test the performance. Given that user intent on mobile devices might vary from user intent on desktops and laptops, you'll want to measure campaign performance separately and make adjustments accordingly.
