I launched a site in mid-June. By now, it's well ranked in all SEs, but is almost nowhere to be found with Google (unless I search for the domain name).
I'm pretty experienced in SEO, and have made this without any tricks to cheat or "spam" Google. Hence, it's well SEO'd and has about 500 incoming links from relevant sites (not any obscure link swappers, but real, honest ones).
I'm getting kind of desperate since it's 4.5 months in the sandbox, so I'm thinking that they might take the site out of it if I sign up for AdWords.
Anyone has any experience in this? Will it help?

An unequivocal no. Adwords has nothing to do with success (or lack of it) in natural search. Google has confirmed this time and time again.

However, please allow me to be a bit persistant:
I understand that Google won't allow any such program affect a normal search. That would of course be devastating for them.
But IMHO, their recent sandboxing antic has not very much to do with a regular search per se. As I understand, it's more a gadget applied by them to gouge the credibility of a new site/domain. And if I sign up for AdWords, shouldn't that send them a message that the site might actually be a serious player?
So, while I appreciate your response, you are referring to "normal searches". Not the sandbox phenomenon that I was asking about.
