Is it possible to set the date when the payments are taken?
At present, no. Because the billing system is automated, and bills when a certain value in clicks is accrued, it is not really possible to set the date on which one is billed.

AWA, I haven't really seen this My account seems to bill on the 9th of the month automatically no matter what. I admit I am a low volume advertiser and only do $250 to $350 in any given month though. Maybe I don't hit the credit cap because of this.

Yes, that'll be why. The first link above will give you more details about the schedule, which is when a certain value in clicks is accrued, or after 30 days from the previous billing, whichever comes first. ;)

It says that Google is currently working on enabling switching payment methods (say from Credit Card to Prepay), do you have any idea when this will be happen? We're based in the UK, but billed in USD.

Karmatar, I'm sorry to disappoint, but I'm not really aware of when this will happen.
One thing I do know for sure: when it does happen, someone on WebmasterWorld, from some part of the globe, will notice it immediately - and post about it within a half an hour of the release. So watch this space. ;)
