There are 2 floors here google use. The bottom had a reception and a nice atrium. HR, Accounting and some Sys Admin people. It was interesting that the Sys Admin had darkened their area, by pulling the blinds. Second floor was full of lots of Adwords support. Noticed alot of very cute women in this department.
Larry told an interesting story how his first contact of ireland was playing doom on a large TCD Map 10 years ago . ( TCD is a large college in central dublin.) When he was touring the college in real life, he instinctively knew his way around. Every time he turned a corner, he expected to someone to jump out.
Every nationality for the european support that works there, has decorated their area each with their own national theme.
Larry and Sergei, had a Question and Answers session with the Irish TV host of the same program. He gave an example of how he typed in a phrase and got back an amazing 65,000 results in 6 seconds. Larry apologized it took so long!
No Full time massuase here. but one does come once a quarter. 150 people work in Google Ireland now. All you can drink soft drinks.
Asked someone that i had heard unconfirmed rumours that they had 100,000 servers. Said i was out by a factor of 10.
What i found particularly interesting is although Google use linux extensively for their server farm, that internally in their adwords and other departments, they make extensive use of windows.
I almost feel as if I had been there!
