I have campaign where I changed the URL (everything else is same) and in 12 hrs I noticed a significant drop in clicks as its only showing on google search but not on content network. I realized my mistake and changed the URL back to where it was. Will this restored ad still need to go thru the approval process to show on content network? Typically how long this takes?

What is the best way to change the URL without loosing the traffic? Is it by creating a new ad in the same campaign with the new URL and gradually transition into the new url then delete the old ad?

Yes - any change to the ad copy, or URLs, will cause the ads to stop showing on partner sites until they can be reviewed and approved.

Time to review varies widely with volume. If you have the leeway, I'd recommend making changes to your ads early in the morning, Pacific Time, in the middle of the week. Volume is typically lowest then. Also, avoid the weekends, as ads are reviewed on a very limited basis Saturday and Sunday.

This is a good strategy, but I'd suggest creating a second ad in the same Ad Group. Then, when you start to see your new ad appear on partner sites, you can just delete the old one.
