The term does not show on Google so how do they price it?

I have terms that do not show on google but show on the search partners. Well needless to say these terms are pretty spendy compared to the others. They do not seem to ever settle down either. So I am not sure how Google prices them as I thought everything was priced off the Google data only.

How are you confirming that these keywords are not running on Google?

I type them in and there is no ad there. Pretty standard way. Google used to show some of them but like lots of stuff they change every six months. So any new terms that will exhibit this problem of not showing on google, how do they price it?

It may be that advertisers have run these keywords in the past, but they either convert poorly or run a very low CTR, so Google has raised the minimum bids higher than normal. I don't quite understand the logic behind this. It definitely reduces the clutter of poor-performing ads, but are no ads better than none?

In my experience, one machine isn't representative of wider distribution - are you able to capture referring URLs to validate the domains that are driving traffic?

Do ads show on AOL on terms that give no ads on Google?

There are definately terms that show on the search partners that do not show on Google. And I know they do not show as we have been doing this for years and I know when and where my ads show.

Being that Quality Score is derived from a keyword's CTR on Google - it has, at some point, run on Google. I would say that it's highly unlikely that Google would discontinue re-evaluations of the keyword's up-to-date performance - but if it is not currently running on Google, it's CTR would have to be based on it's historic Google performance.

I am pretty sure we have entered brand new terms that no one has used that also meet the criteria of not showing on google. We will see what my rep says on Monday. Might have been the place to start anyways hehe

New development, how they price it may always be a mystery but they price it high. Shutting off the search partners drop the clicks 11% and the cost 24%.

So, the keywords in question are running on Google after all?

No they are not. We have more terms then just those. This was a very easy way to shut them all off and see the effect of the mispriced clicks over thousands of search terms. The terms that were left show on Google and the search partners and of course Google only during the experiment.

Not sure if you guys can see your ads but we regularly check ours. It is not too hard to know if an ad is showing or not.

Perhaps, this deserves a new thread then. The title of this thread suggests another topic.

Just a suggestion: If you're only checking your ads by manually typing in terms on one machine, you may be missing a larger picture. If you don't believe that two machines can offer two different behaviors - you should try it and see... especially if you're operating nation-wide or globally. Good luck to you.

We know when an ad is showing and most of the time where. That was my point. Not sure I need a new thread on this. Was just hoping someone else targeted such terms and had a similar problem.

Gotta luv google. Price is determined by more then CTR, it also includes the quality score. Yeah and....
