It's been probably 36 to 48 hours now, and still no impressions, no clicks, etc.

it says my ads are active. The campaign is on.

But my ads won't show.

I haven't used adwords in a year or more maybe, so I guess it's possible I'm overlooking some minute detail, but I don't think so.

Anyone have any idea why my ads wouldn't show?

Thanks.

Try looking at the Keywords tab under one of your ad groups. You'll see an image of a magnifying glass to the right of each keyword. Hover over that for the Keyword Analysis dialog box. It'll let you click through for more details and recommendations... I find this helpful to diagnose certain issues. It's also new, so you may have missed it if you haven't been using the system in a year.

I've tried using that.

after it shows "no" that my ad isn't triggered for this keyword, it lists several possible reasons. I've already gone through that. The only thing it could be is that they haven't been approved, but how long does that take?

How closely does your ad match your keyword? How closely does your landing page match your keyword and your ad? When you're in keywords for a particular ad group, click on customize columns ans then show quality score. Google will then tell you whether the quality of your particular keyword is great, ok or poor, depending on how well the keyword, your ad and the landing page match up.

If your quality score is great and your average position is high, you may need to increase your bid.

Hope this is helpful.

quality is fine. The landing page matches the keyword and the ad content matches.

The bids are high enough they should be shown.

I set the cpc for now to maximize clicks. For instance one cent higher and I get less clicks for the same amount of money. One cent lower and I get less clicks and don't fill my daily budget.

I figured I'd go in later and break down all the terms lowering some rates and raising others. I just wanted to get some traffic flowing.

It says "active" on the keywords. Only 5 words inactive for search is what it says at the top and those are words I don't want to pay for at this time.

My credit card information is up to date, my billing address, etc. etc.

I tried pausing and resuming the campaign as well, and that did not work either.

Yesterday morning or the day before that I used the contact us form on the adwords site to request help but have yet to receive a response.

It's racking my brain to figure this out!

When you went to the Contact Us page did you check the Can't see my ad radio button and then click on "Get an instant diagnosis?

Yes, and it says this:

You have no ads that match that search term

What does this mean?
You may receive this message if the keyword you've entered:

* Is experiencing a server delay.

Can't be THAT delayed.

* Has just been added to your campaign. You may experience a short wait as your keyword goes through the review process.

Can the review process take this long?

* Was deleted from your account.

Still there and active

* Is rarely searched by users. (Your ad will begin showing for this keyword once users start including it in search queries. You don't need to do anything.)

Searched for it myself and nothing

What can I do?

Please review your campaign or ad group and make sure your keyword is active. To find a keyword and/or its status within your account, you can use our account-wide search feature. This feature finds matches among your keywords, ad text, and ad group or campaign names. You'll find the search box at the top of any page within the 'Campaign Management' tab.

Done this.

My keywords all say ACTIVE

Thanks for the help!

it might be because your ads are not approved by the adwords specialist,,, all the ads on Google Adwords needs to go through the approval process before it is live...
which might take a couple of mins or days...
you could send a mail to the Google team (using Contact Us link)& request to push the ads for approvals.

I used the contact link and emailed them again and got a response about 12 hours ago saying they have escalated the ticket to their specialist team and they are currently investigating it and will get back with me when they've found a resoltion.

I am still waiting to hear back again though.

I had a similar issue. Several of my ads stopped displaying after months of consistent performance. This coincided with an e-mail from AdWords about another, unrelated campaign and issues (e.g., punctuation problem). When I contacted them about this new issue, they replied with some "general education" email (e.g., what quality score is, what factors it depends...). I chatted with their rep who mentioned that some of my ads might have been placed under review but he/she could not verify it. Google never confirmed anything about the review, how long it would take, etc. The issue was never resolved.
I ended up looking for another source of traffic for the affected landing pages.

I don't know what your niche is, but some keywords trigger a manual review, and that can take several days to a week in my experience.

not to mention, the clock started on a friday afternoon - in my experience not the best time to measure customer service...

well I figure with a company like Google, there is no M-F work week. I guess I could be ignorant about their operating procedures but I just assumed with an online company it's 24/7 365 with no real drop for weekends, holidays, etc.

Anyway, they replied again this evening and everything is rolling now. She didn't say what the issue was and I'm gonna ask, but it's really not a big deal.

I'm just glad to be back up and running.
