I am running campaign for my free webhosting website.

placement targeting: 600 clicks with no conversion (free registration)

AND

search ads: 150 clicks with no conversion (free registration)

What is going on? 2 years ago, with the same clicks, I will get at least 100 new registration.

Hello, this sort of thing seems to be happening everywhere these days. I also receive a lot of clicks but very few conversations unlike months or years ago.

I can understand, if it is a content campaign. However, my issue is with the search campaign.

Shouldnt search campaign have a better conversion / less fraud?

Me too. Just finished a campaign. 10,000 visits, 58 CTR, 8 sign ups.

Have the computer gods forsaken us?...KF

How focused is your copy for the search campaign? It may be a case of trying to reduce the traffic where possible by making the copy very specific to what you are offering. Also, positioning on the page will make quite a difference - generally, if you are in positions 1-3, the ctr will be quite high, but the conversion rate won't necessarily be in proportion. If you're trying to improve the conversion rate, I've found that positions 4-7 generally work better.

Also, things like negative keywords etc to rule out unwanted traffic work well.

Are you sure that your package remains competitive now, two years on? Free webhosting offers have changed considerably over that period; most people now look for accounts which are ad-free, PHP and MySQL enabled and with a large disk space allowance. Providers are offering these and then bumping them to paid plans as soon as they pull in good traffic.
