Hey Guys,

Im trying to change multiple keyword CPC in a campaign... I used to do it through adwords online, under tools... Now that is gone, how do i change mulitple CPC? Basically i have about 500 kw's that are inactive and i would like to run a search on them and set all of the CPC up by about .10 cents....

I can search and find all inactive kw's but i cant find a way to set an action to the kw's i found...

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

that tool is now only available in the adwords editor, it's no longer in the online interface. gotta download and use the editor if you want to use that feature.

I seem to have left out one vital piece of information... My apologies, i am actually using adwords editor, but i cant seem to find the functionality to do what i described above. So, my original question is actually how do i search and replace multiple max CPC based on certain criteria using adwords editor?

Thanks and sorry about not making my question clear.

I don't think that functionality is available in adwords editor. The only thing I am aware you can do is export the data, modify it in spreadsheet program and then reimport it into adwords editor. A very scary proposition from my perspective.

No way, you've got to be kidding..... This was available with the online interface, how could they just take it away without putting something similar in its place in the editor...

Can anyone out there corroborate this? Is there a way to do it with editor or online? I am positive i wasnt dreaming when i used this functionality in the tools menu online, so it was there online... If it was taken away, what or how do others compensate for that functionality?

Thanks,

I had the same fear! But, Google alerted me to the following:

1. Do an Advanced Search for all keywords containing the term 'x' For directions, see:
[google.com...]

2. Once the application returns results, they will populate in the make
box view

3. From here, you can use the Advanced Bid Changes Tool to adjust your
bids accordingly. For directions, see:
[google.com...]

I am talking more along the lines of i want to raise CPC by checking kw position and raise CPC based on that, not just by the actual keyword. I used to be able to do that online, can i still do it with adwords editor?

I'm assuming you used to run a report, run your positional analysis in Excel, then cut/paste the keywords you wanted to change in the Find/Edit Tools to apply a general bid change... right? If yes, this should work the same way. If no, what specific steps did you go through via the online UI?

Nope, there was a tool that allowed you to edit max cpc (edit keywords or something to that effect), it allowed you to search kws based upon their position or multiple other criteria (i just tended to use position) then it allowed you to perform an action on the product of that search you could set the mac cpc (up or down, percentage or amount)...

I hope i dont sound to forward with this... Its just that what im asking about WAS the search tool, it just allowed you to take actions based on your search... Quite frankly i think a search w/o the ability to take an action makes the search pretty useless, its like google providing you your search results on google.com and then not allowing you to click the link....

Has anybody used the tool im talking about? Perhaps they can provide a better description than i am providing of its functionality... All i really remember was that it was under Tools and it was the keyword search tool...

The Find/Edit tool allowed you to search for keywords... filtering on campaign or ad group name, match type and status... and to make bid or status changes on the resulting keywords.

There was never a Google UI tool allowing you to filter based on position or any other performance metric in order to make bid changes.

Dear god, i hope i wasnt dreaming when i used it... I swear i was using that tool...

Ok, lets go forward assuming that tool didnt exist (btw, i feel like im going nuts, if anyone else has used it, PLEASE chime in) .... Is there a way to filter based on avg position, and then allow me to change the max cpc?

W/O the online tool how are people accomplishing these filterings?

Posterboy, thank you sooo much... I feel retared ;) I totally missed your point the first time... I re-read your post and FINALLY got it... Having gone through it now, i apologize for asking such a lame question.... But, i gotta say it is somehwhat counter-intuitive compared to the way it was done with the online tool.

Thx again, muchas gracias!

I very much agree... I needed Google help to change my mental gears and realize how it was to now be done, too!

Posterboy, thank you sooo much...

You are very welcome.
