Adwords Data Tracking

Hi All,

I am looking for information about the most efficient ways to analyze data that comes from Adwords. I am interested in performing the following tasks:

Comparing the CTRs of ad variations within the same adgroup over time.

Comparing the CTRs of different keywords within an adgroup over time.

Comparing the numbers of impressions that I get for different ads, and different keywords.

Comparing my conversions for different landing pages.

Etc Etc.

Basically, I want to take all of the great information that I can get in Reports in Adwords and CRUNCH it and graph it. It appears that Google Analytics should be able to crunch all of these numbers and give me nice graphs, but unfortunately I'm not getting data in Analytics. Question -- Does Google Analytics take a look at the same stats that are provided in Adwords itself? Does Google Analytics crunch Adwords statistical data or are Analytics stats based solely on the code that is on each page? Where do I turn to make sure that Analytics is doing what it is supposed to?

How do people feel about ClickTracks? Other software alternatives?

I really don't want to spend countless hours crunching my own data in Excel. If anyone has suggestions, I'm sure that everyone in this forum will benefits.

Best regards,

Hi Walstib,

- Comparing the CTRs of ad variations within the same adgroup over time: Produce an ad report. Please note that even the slightest change you made in an ad will "kill" it and give birth to another. That is why it's important to gather the data all identical ads have (using the subtotal function in Excel).

- Comparing the CTRs of different keywords within an adgroup over time: Produce a keyword report and sort it by ad group.

- Comparing the numbers of impressions that I get for different ads, and different keywords: Use the ad report and the keyword report, respectively.

- Comparing my conversions for different landing pages: If you have set Google's Web Optimizer, you get everything you need. Otherwise, check your destination URL in the keyword report and see categorize the keywords by their destinations.

And two more tips:

1) You seem to focus on CTR. Please keep in mind that in most cases, conversion rate is way more important.

2) Get used to crunching your own data in Excel (although I don't think it should take that long).
