Hi

I just set up my Google Adwords account but I may have done something wrong.

When asked what currency I wanted to pay in I chose US Dollars.

Part of my choice was because of the good currency rate but also because I am used to dealing in US dollars.

Have I made a mistake and should I have opted to pay in UK sterling instead?

Does it matter?

Hope to hear your opinions so I can make any changes if necessary.

Thanks a lot.

Search WebmasterWorld for "micro-currency" and you'll see how AdWords handles currencies.

The way I like to look at it is that it's better to limit the currency conversion process on your own end. So if your income is in USD (and assuming that your bank account and credit card are as well), then choose USD for your AdWords expenses.

I believe I'm write in saying that once you choose, your account is locked to that currency.

I'm UK-based but billed in USD, for the reason that the minimum bids used to be $0.10 or £0.10. I could get an easy edge on competitors with cheap long-tail keywords. Of course, minimum bids are now $0.01/£0.01, which are far rarer, so it does me few favours.
