Some of our Adwords ads which have for years stayed at # 1 or 2, are now suddenly on the 2nd or 3rd page of ads, while much less relevant junk ads that used to be on 2nd and 3rd pages of ads, are now at the top of the paid results.
We have not changed anything, and have an instinctive feeling that this cannot be right, and that something is amiss.
Is anyone else experiencing the same?

Noticed it too as a publisher, and the junk ads aren't paying nearly as well either. Maybe G is giving the junky ads more of a chance to prove themselves than in the past (and they're not), or maybe the junky ads are site targeting specific channels. In fact, it's so bad, that if I wasn't on my way out of town for 2 weeks, I'd be swapping over the ad space to the other guys right now.

This happened to me yesterday too! Not as drastic a change as yours but I went from position 4 to 8 from one day to the next. The funny thing is, the ad (new campaign ~5 days old) started out at around 6 and was gradually creeping up - went to 3.8 on the 26th...then yesterday it got dropped 8. I more than doubled the bid for this KW but still can't get it above 5...very strange.
