New account - 12 hours - 0 impressions

first time here - what's up?

Hi,
I just opened my first adwords account last night. I was expecting immediate results. Got up this morning to see that there were zero impressions...

My account is active
My banking details were approved
I'm trying 100 or so keywords.
I was predicted to get 1000 or so clicks a day.
My keywords are "kosher" - no offensive stuff or similar (according to TOS)
I chose to advertise on the Google only - not on the search network or partner sites... (could that be responsible?).

But 0 impressions? So much for getting clicks in under 15 minutes...

Has anyoneone had a similar experience?

BTW I read all the details about setting your cost per clicks and your maximun budget per day.

I've set the maximum budget per day according to the suggest amount for 100% delivery.

The cost per clicks were set to give me roughly ad position 3...

Are your ads anything to do with gambling, betting, adult etc?

I cant see any reason if your ad subject is just 'widgets' that you have recieved NO impressions!

A similar thing happened to me when I first started.
I THOUGHT I'd created some ads, but in fact I hadn't.

Check on your ads to make sure they're there.

Ooops... thought I was talking about Adsense from a publisher perspective, not an Advertiser, deleted my message.

Maybe your bid is too low, or the reporting is slow, or the campaign isn't active?

It's not because of the keywords... There are zero impressions for the whole campaign.

I had a similar problem with a seperate campaign last night. It had been up for about 24hrs with zilch happening, so I paused it, waited a while, then re-started it. That seemed to do the trick, but being new to AdWords myself I have no idea if what I did actually made any difference or if it was just coincidence (I'd seen someone else on this forum suggest pausing/restarting).

Just wanted to weigh in with a couple of thoughts.

Firstly, when anyone is having account issues, the first thing to do, in my opinion anyway, is to contact AdWords support. This will put you in the queue to get your query answered ASAP by someone who can look at your specific account in detail.

Then, post to WebmasterWorld, because lots of folks here really know the AdWords program inside and out. But since we can't see your account, we are only making educated guesses.

With all that said, here are a few common causes for non-appearance of ads. I do know that you have said that you've checked some of these, James Kochic.

* Ads disapproved (look for message under ads)
* Keywords disabled or disapproved
* Keywords must be reviewed before ads appear, even on Google. (Certain types of keywords only)
* Campaign is active, but Ad Groups paused
* Credit card declined or never entered
* Advertiser has set an End Date, which has passed
* Daily Budget is set lower than Maximum CPC
* Ads not saved (As mentioned by KeepTrying. Not common, but it does happen.)

I'm sure I am missing some, but these are the most common that occur to me at the moment.

But really, I'd suggest contacting AdWords support.

I have opend my account last sunday and same thing happend to me. no impression for 48 hours. Changed my add so many times. At the end created a new add and deleted the old one. And now it's working.

When you say make a new ad, is that a new ad group, a new campaign, a new keyword...?

I ADDED "BLUE BANANAS" AS A TEST. I PRESUME BLUE BANANAS ISN'T A SENSITIVE KEYWORD

* Campaign is active, but Ad Groups paused
NOT PAUSED

* Credit card declined or never entered
CREDIT CARD WAS ENTERED, AND ACCEPTED ACCORDING TO THE REPONSE FROM THE SYSTEM.

* Advertiser has set an End Date, which has passed
END DATE IS 2005 OR SOMETHING

* Daily Budget is set lower than Maximum CPC
DAILY BUDGET IS 2X THE RECOMMENDED AMOUNT THAT YOU GET WHEN YOU TEST YOUR BUDGET IN THE EDIT CAMPAIGN WINDOW.

* Ads not saved (As mentioned by KeepTrying. Not common, but it does happen.)

Even a very minor change to the ad itself can bring it to a standstill for a time. As yet, I haven't had tha happen with keyword changes.

phidentity, when this happens, the issue(s) at work can certainly vary from account to account - so I hope that you've also contacted AdWords support.

Unlike those of us on this Forum, they can look at your actual account in detail and give you very specific info.

I hope those ads are running soon!

Well, AWA i seriously beg to disagree with your idea of how much better it would have been to contact AdWords support first and then write here. I did it twice. Had to wait 24 hours to get a copy of the FAQ e-mailed back to me as if I hadn't read them before initiating the contact. The truth of the matter is that they just don't read the questions and this "support" is rather useless. Why do you think I'm here? Because support answered my questions?
