Spend per day limit

How is this limited? Does it work?

On one of my campaigns, I've reduced the spend per day to £2.50 because I'm making some changes to the site, etc. and conversions at the moment are pretty poor. I reduced this spend about 2 days ago. The price/click is 4p (also the minimum for it to appear)

But my site logs so far today (3pm) show 145 CTRs from the 2 ads in the campaign, which is £7.25 (£4.75 over-budget) So how does Google limit spends per day? Surely it can't charge for them as they were not requested, so what happens here?

You won't be charged for anything over your set limit (plus 20 percent of your set limit). For example, if you have set your monthly budget as $100 and you get clicks worth $150, you will be charged only $120 ($100 plus 20 percent of $100).

This will show in your Account Management as "Overdelivery Credit". In the above example, the Overdelivery Credit is $30.
