Content Network Prioritized Over Google Searches!

We have a campaign that we run on both the content network and the google standard search. We do not monitor this account too often as it is a small account/website (but we will from now on!)

During the last 2 weeks we received thousands of clicks from a single content network site, which has used all of our campaign budget and left none for standard google or other searches. So we have received thousands of clicks that do NOT convert AT ALL, and almost none from other standard Google searches!

Ridiculous!

I have reported this to Google and disabled the Content Network immediately.

I can see why thats annoying but you do have the power to turn off specific content sites at campaign level and this should ensure that the site doesnt send any more traffic.

No warnings what-so-ever from Google.

Since we do not want to run the risk of another useless Content Network website consuming ALL of our budget, we switched-off the Content Network entirely.

There are some very good web sites in the Content Network... but the bad ones are obfuscating the good ones and even taking clicks from the Google search if you are on a fixed budget

Fingers crossed smart pricing will refund some of that cost from the rubbish site. It would be good for content sites to be introduced as a balance rather than consuming your entire budget allocation as you say, maybe even a % option on how you want the budget balanced across them.

i recommend monitoring all your accounts and even setting up reports to email you daily. or adjust content network bids so that it is a 1/4 of the cost of search ads.
