One strike, you're out?

Well, about 3 years ago i ran a small business that i sold off and i had some adwords campaigns running. I left that account for the new owner to run with and opened me a new one for some sites i was woring on.

Long story short, i got unpaid bills in one of them stopping me from getting my account re-enabled. I don't have the login info and emails to support simply say "we don't do business with you anymore"

so is there anyway to pay what i owe to get back in? They haven't just banned me, but my wife (who never used adwords) and a co-worker (that shared a prior address on a corporate card).

Never had more than a few hundred bucks in clicks so we're not talking about a late payment of much money at all.

so is it possible to cleanup my record? support is useless/futile or will my focus have to be elsewhere? sort of dissapointed in Google in this whole process but i guess i messed up and am paying the price - just amazing how far they go to prevent anything related to you from getting in as well.

perhaps they've only banned the domain name?

From what I understand, we're not talking about just a "late" payment, but a non-payment. You indicate that you still have the debt.

How long was AdWords running before Google took action?

I think that once you have established yourself as the sort of person who has this sort of attitude to paying debts, you have alos established yourself as the sort of person Google chooses not to do business with? Why should they be persuaded to change their view?

Start by finding out what you own them and finding out how to pay it off. You need to be seen to be doing this because you want to clear the debt.

Once it is cleared, maybe then you can start talking to them about opening another account.

tough one - you could of course try getting a new wife, but I guess that would be somewhat extreme...

I don't know what debt i have, all i got was a notice i've been banned for non payment and they won't reply to any further emails, i'm guessing its on my prior business.

My last adsense run was before they wen't public.. heck, it was when they still had green boxes around the adsense ads!

i asked for my old account so i could pay it and they won't even tell me what that is.

of course i want to pay it.. trying to run a decent business, and no i don't want a new wife, just figured it was strange they're cross referencing data off credit cards apparently to prohibit new accounts which seems kinda wrong if you ask me, but i guess they use it to scrub fraud. (which i never did, they just keep responding about non payment)

as for payment, it had been paid, but not sure if there were charges post sale of business as i switched to a citi one time purchase card before i sold and generated a new number for each payment as i did with every PPC campaign at the time.

i did the account lookup and none of my old id's have an active account to even login to so i guess i'm just SOL.

oh well, i even called and they said there is nothing we can do for you.

Does that mean, a guy who wants to ruin my domain name, can run a campaign in Google for the domain, and leave an unpaid balance?

I am sure I am missing something, G is smarter than this..

I'm not sure how they gather information. It could be by my name, domain registrant, address, credit card info.

I guess my dissapointment is knowing google is cross referencing personal data and not willing to discuss it with me.

Is there a way to force termination of all services with google so they would have to delete my financial information or disclose it with me?

As I understand it, an Adwords Account is generally held by a person rather than a company {this is almost certainly the case for a small account such as that which we are taking about here].

The account is not related to any specific domain name. Frequently accounts cover multiple domain names.

Any individual may not open more than one Google AdWords account without special permission from Google (requiring a good reason).

So when the OP sold off the business, and presumably left the Adwords account running as part of the business, he was in fact in breach of his contract with Google. He has incurred bad debts (that from all accounts remain unpaid).

It is the AdWords Account Holder (and probably parties considered by Google to be related to the account holder) who is banned from AdWords - not a domain.

So running up a bad AdWords debt for someone else's domain should not affect the domain concerned or it's legitimate owner.
