CompanyName UK
CompanyName England
<verb> CompanyName
I got an email saying that the keywords were disapproved for trademark violation. (The ads contain "aff")
Yet, other ad groups contain many more keywords such as
CompanyName midgets
CompanyName widgets
<verb> CompanyName
Upon checking the serps, all aff ads for CompanyName UK have gone. This has not happened to CompanyName USA/DE/AU/etc. The trademark is CompanyName, so why would Adwords disapprove one ad group and not half a dozen others in the same account?
You can see why I don't want to ask Adwords, lest they thank me and disapprove all the other ad groups. I have asked the aff manager at CompanyName and may get a reply overnight.
Does Google have (it would make sense) a special view of the same keywords across hundreds of account holders, so that they can be disapproved en masse?
Anyone been in this boat?

Interesting that's possible, please keep us updates as to what you find out.

There are many times when the keywords are disapproved if you have a dynamic insertion ad instead of the ad being disapproved (which of course leads to a lot of confusion on the advertiser side). If you have any keywords that are 'questionable', often it's best to not use dynamic insertion ads until after the keywords have been approved.
