I've never used AdWords before. Is it as bad as people say it is? I've heard some people have to pay like $10 per click! Geez!

How do you rate AdWords from 1-10 (10 being best) and why?

There is huge variation in AdWords campaigns depending upon the business being advertised, but it's VERY unlikely that you will be paying that much for clicks. Consider getting some help in setting up your AdWords campaign so you start off on the right foot. AdWords can work well for many advertisers who plan their campaigns in advance and have realistic expectations.

ROI ranges from Negative to probably 10's of thousands of percent. I have seen most compnly numbers like 1% to 400%. I do about 40% or so, and I am comfortable with that.

As with any advertising campaign, ROI isn't just a question of how much you spend, it's also a question of what you are selling, and how well you sell it.

If you have a site of reasonable quality that provides products or services that sell reasonable well, then you should be able to achieve AdWords minimum bids at very much lower levels than $10. (Minimum bids at those levels are intended to discourage sites that are not considered to offer good value to surfers responding to specific ads).

Remember, you onle pay if someone clicks on you Ad and visits your site. Only you will know who much the average visitor is worth to you, and you should bid accordingly. When you start, set your budgets and bids at a level that you can afford to spend and can handle the traffic - then adjust later as you see how things go.

FWIW my ROI averages at over 50%
