Negatives not working?

I have several campaigns running generic terms with lots of negatives.
Something like:

widget
widgets
-info
-information
-picture
-pictures

And I keep gettings tons of clicks for searches like
"picture of a white widget" or "general information on widgets".

Is anybody experiencing something similar right now?

I have never tried testing negatives on quoted searches. I guess I should ;)

Just as an aside, one of our keywords is a commonly misspelling of an item.
We get a higher CTR on that one than we do on the correctly spelled one ----
