I have a site that is as Relevant as it gets to the keywords I am targeting, but however the bidding makes me start at .50.

I have not created a link such as site.com/keyword-here.html to maybe qualify for even more realevance.

The keyword would get quite a bit of exposure on the content network, but not search engine...

Any trick here or should I email google?

There have been some threads suggesting that high minimum bids are placed on keywordsfor which G has little or no data - this is probably your explanation since you indicate you do not expect to see a response on the search network.

You could try leaving you bid low (i.e. not enabled for the search network) this will still allow you to run on the content network at your actual bid and (I believe) the target pages for the content netork will take account of the keyword.

It may be that as G accumulates more data on the keyword, the min bid will be reduced - it doesn't seem as rara as flying pigs.

In addition to Pengi's comments, I'd add that that one's minimum bid for a keyword is unrelated to how many other advertisers are using the same keyword. Instead (since August of 2005), the minimum bid has been quality based.

It's hard to make blanket statements of course, but minimum bids are often higher on keywords with low competition because the quality/relevance of these keywords to users often tends to be lower.

Did anyone ever tried completely crazy keywords?
I'm getting a little bit tired of Adwords, so I tried something to see if it would work:
I used keywords that you would find on 99,9999999% of the English language pages, like 'a', 'I', 'you', 'they', 'we' etc...
All of these keywords have a starting bid of $5!
I know some would say I wouldn't get very targeted results, but that was exactly what I wanted, to reach the most people possible with "run out of network" ads, in other words, instead of having public ads, people would still get paying ads...
But no results yet, of course I put the bid at 1 cent/click.
No impressions or very little.
I guess I would have to bid higher, but I don't think it will happen.
I'm getting tired of Adwords and the monopoly game.
