Feb 2004 my end of month bill was just over £1000 but June 2004 was just £180. I haven't changed my CPC or anything else with my account but my click through rate has dropped to just 1%
Is this likely to be increased competition or is there something else I should look out for? I am reluctant to just incrase my CPC amount in an effort to rectify the situation as I'm in a competitive industry and doing so would dramatically reduce my margins.
I'm tempted to just close the account and open a new one from fresh and see if this makes Google become less biased on my campaign as it would then place adverts on their own merits as opposed to placing them on past performance.
Before I do this however I would just like to know anybody has any other ideas. I'm interested in asking Google to optimise the campaign but am unsure as to how much I would have to commit monthly (I suppose my budget would be around £2000pm)
Many thanks!
Chris
1. Has your average position changed?
2. Have the ads around yours changed?
3. Who is now competiting that wasn't?
4. Are the ads stale?
5. Are the ads/site time sensitive?
Usually, the first thing I do is write some new ads and see which ones do well or not, and then figure out the reasons for their preformance.
