Does Google not want my money?

I started with Google Adwords 5 days ago. But no ad appeared in any search for my keywords.
Despite changing the wording in answer to their email 2 days later:

Action taken: Suspended - Pending Revision
Issue(s): Punctuation

Still no ad appeared, but I did have 49 impressions. Strange that considering that no searches came up with my ad on any page.

I tried another campaign, with diferent keywords etc, thinking it might be something I've done. But no ads appeared with that one either. 2 emails later and no reply and I am wondering what to do next.

Should I request my money back or is it a blood out of a stone situation?

It was only £5.00 but that would buy 2 pints of lager and that would be preferable to a non appearing ad from a company that does not appear to want my business.

You are incorrect that no ads appeared. Perhaps you didn't see one, but it was displayed 49 times.

Check your ad, you've got punctuation problems - they told you that. You do have to meet their TOS to advertise with them and correct punctuation is one of them.

If you feel the need to actually 'see' your ad, increase your maximum daily spend. If you've got it set to $20, then your ad will be shown something like one time in 20 or 50 - so you won't see it. But someone will. Increasing your max daily spend increases how often your ad is displayed. You probably want it displayed every time if possible. First if it's profitable, then more ads just means more money. And secondly you'll need a lot of views as quickly as you can in order to make reasonable decisions on your ads/bidding etc.

Should I request my money back...

No, you should learn how to use and understand the Adwords program.

[adwords.google.com...]

Impressions = the number of times your ad appeared.

Good luck!

They apparently don't want my money either. Since July 9th, I went from 25,000+ impressions to 3,000, without any change in my campaign.

And yet my SERPs traffic is just fine, and my Overture traffic ditto. Guess I'll give Overture my money, since Google doesn't seem to want it anymore.

To put this in perspective, perhaps you should consider that what you are actually doing is giving your competitors your money (since consumers are now going to be going to their site instead of yours).

No, to put it in perspective, I'm standing here with a wad of money in my hand, and Google is saying "no thanks".

Quite a big difference.

Well maybe it's time to make some changes!

Like what? That's my point. Overnight, Google Adwords stats are saying that people who were searching 20,000 times a day for my keywords are now simply not searching at all. After a year of 20K+ searches daily for "blue widgets", since Friday night nobody is interested in "blue widgets" anymore.

What exactly would you suggest I do, since I know darned good and well that people are still looking for "blue widgets", as everything else except for AdWords has remained steady as a rock?

BTW, my CTR and conversion ratios have remained exactly the same. The few times my ad is actually being shown, the same rate of folks click through, and the same percentage of sales result.

Personally, I think Adwords is broken. I think they tried a new algo on Friday night, and they are in the office in Palo Alto right now figuring out how much money they lost over the weekend from folks like me.

I just saw my ad show up on a search using a URL code I changed yesterday, which is different from the URL it was giving me 30 minutes ago.

I think their "improvements" are not working, and they are rolling back some of them.

Where do you find this info?

Sorry perhaps I did not make myself clear. I have read the relevant advice from Google and put an ad out without any punctuation and acceptable under the guidelines.
I put the recommended CPC in as per Google.
I have been on the estimated traffic page and it states on all keywords that the position is 1.00 to 2.00.
I have a campaign that is restricted to an area which is 30 miles around my business.
I have tried on countless occasions to see if my ad is shown and it does not appear. I therefore assume that there is something wrong.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Thanks

Robino: AdWord stats page gives you how many impressions, clicks, etc. You can search different time periods to compare figures and gague your progress.

Up until Friday, my stats show that my keywords were searched over 20K times daily, and my ad shown for all those searches (impression count). Saturday, Sunday, and today's impression figures are about 10% of normal.

That tells me that they are not showing my ad as often as they were before Friday. BUT - every single time I do a search for any of my keywords, there is my ad, right where it should be, without fail!

So - either people have simply stopped searching for my keywords as often as they did every day before Friday, or... AdWords is screwed up.
