Help! My impressions drop significantly

after moving keywords to new campaign

I just re-organized the Google campaign of a client of mine. I copied all the keywords from his previous multiple campaigns, paused the campaigns, and put all the keywords into a single new campaign according to their coresponding AdGroups.

Other than adding hundreds of new keywords to the new campaign, I did not change anything else, including Max. CPC, daily budget and ad copies. All remained the same.

But after a few days, I notice that the impressions have dropped significantly compared to the previous campaigns. It's not even half what it used to be. (CTR is slightly better, however)

Is this normal? Does Google put all your new campaigns in a slow mode first before going to full speed? Why do I get lower impressions even though I have the same exact keywords? I need an explanation for this before my client thinks I screwed up his campaign.

Thanks.

You cannot "move" keywords to a different adgroup or campaign. What happens is that you create whole new ones complete with new CTR and new ads. These new ads will have to be approved before they are run again on partner sites such as AOL search. Since it doesn't sound like they have been approved yet, it will probably be Tuesday at the earliest before they are looked at. I would un-pause the old ads if you need to be on the partner sites until then.

Also you will be starting over with new CTR for the ads so if you did have a high CTR with the old campaigns, then you will probably be appearing lower in the listing and/or paying more until the new keywords build up CTR percentages again.
