Delay in Conversion Tracking

Using Google's Tracker?

I don't know if this has always been there, but is the conversion tracker usually delayed by a lot? It's showing zeros across the board for me today almost 18 hours in, and that does not reflect actual results.

mquarles, this is the second time I've heard this in the past two days, so I think that maybe there is an issue affecting a very small number of advertisers.

If you were to write to AdWords support from within your account, and briefly detail what you're seeing, this info might be helpful to the tech team in tracking down the issue.

Thanks!

I also notice that conversions are reported slower than ussual. Click and impressions are slightly faster but conversions always seem to take 24 hours these days in all our campaigns.

Login to your account, scroll all the way down and read the fine print

*Note: There is a 24 hour delay in conversion tracking reporting.

I know but it used to be faster. And just mentioning you are slow does not mean this is acceptable :)

Thanks AWA.

It sounds like a natural result of my always growing account (same thing happens with AdSense stats--bigger accounts get bigger delays).

I have been using Conversion Tracking for quite a
while now, but the last 3 days I have not had any
stats with this. I just used the contact form within
my account to notify Google about this, and I got
a 'Returned Mail' message to my email with the
following message:

The original message was received at Mon, 28 Jun 2004 05:58:19 -0700
from krillin.corp.google.com [10.32.4.89]

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
/home/archives/trakken/adwords-support
(reason: Service unavailable)
(expanded from: :include:/etc/mail/lists/trakken/adwords-support)

Now what am I supposed to do?

Since Friday our conversion tracking has been reading 0 and the few days before that it seems unusually low.

Today's stats are showing new numbers. Still nothing for Fri, Sat or Sunday.

Will go back in and report it.

Just tried to report this issue and am also getting a returned mail report.

AdWords has obviuosly got a Monday morning hangover.

Here is the returned mail report for AWA with the sending address changed to protect the innocent:

Funny how they never seem to have bugs when it comes to figuring out how many ads got clicked and how much you owe them. ;)

This is really strange.

Just received an auto-reply from AdWords support that they received my inquiry.

Something is buggy in Googleville this morning.

By the way did anyone else notice the line that says:

"child died on signal 25"

What's with that?

Yep, I had that in my returned email also:

I've been seeing delays for a few days, too. It used to be about as up to date as impressions and clicks. I'm not showing any conversions on 6/26, 6/27, or 6/28, although I know I had many.

CernyM, you make a good point about how strange it would be if the same types of errors occured with system that tracks clicks.

I have yet to hear someone on this board say "Wow, it's really wierd. I've been consistenly getting billed too little for my clicks."

This is selection of the fittest in action. Advertisers who can't track themselves & who therefore count on the media outlet to track for them will eventually go the way of the Dodo Bird.

I'm also missing a lot of conversions for the last couple of days. Something seems to be broken again. Any news on that AWA?

I did receive a reply back from Google:
**********
We are aware that advertisers are currently experiencing problems with
data from conversion tracking. You may be experiencing a reporting delay.
***********
No stats for converstion tracking for the last 4
days now, I would say that is more than a reporting
delay.

Well "Wayne" at least you got them to acknowledge there is a problem.

The answer I got, from what I assume is a form letter, is that I didn't receive any conversions for 3 days.

That's kinda strange since a few of the terms are directly sent to a page that has tracking enabled and usually shows 100% unless they have cookies blocked which is a very small percentage. We usually run 25 - 30% conversions from our home page to our money pages.

Are they trying to tell me that out of some 500 clicks in 3 days no one went to one of our money pages.

Not possible as we also track click throughs to these pages.

Something is definately wrong. This morning the summary pages were showing o% while the individual terms were showing conversions.

I really like my WordAds. What I hate is being sluffed off when an obvious problem exists.

Yes,

I know for sure we had conversions as we have other measurement systems to support that. It is just Adwords that is not delivering any conversion data. We are running over 25 campaigns with a lot of daily conversions so "Houston we have a problem"!

Tropical Island, sorry that you got the wrong info from AdWords support. And thanks to you and Robsp for the heads up.

I've done a little digging and find that Conversion Tracking stats were in fact delayed over the weekend, for some accounts at least.

Word has it that stats should be caught up by late tonight. I can't, of course, guarantee that - but my best information at the moment says that this should be the case.

Thanks, as always, AWA for getting the facts straightened out.

Nice knowing that all my advertising is, in fact, converting.

Not that I was all that worried as it's been converting for 2½ years.

Same here. Yesterday and today's conversion data is back. The weekend still has a "hole".

On my account, it looks like things are back to normal going forward (full conversions reported for 6/28, partial for 6/29, nothing showing yet for 6/30), but the missing conversion data for 6/25 - 6/27 appear to still be largely incomplete.

While we're on this subject...we're having trouble getting a new clients' account to show conversion data as well. I'm heartend by this thread but have some other questions.

1)Do I have to turn on the AdWords tracking system like I do at Overture?

2)Does putting the code between the <head> tags work, or is between the <body> tags a must?

3)Does putting the code on an SSL page affect anything?

4)And does putting the code on an ASP page affect anything?

Thanks much for any help with these questions.
