Google slow in pickin up changes?

Made some changes to an AdWords campaign today and for all I know these are normally visible within minutes. Now it's a few hours later and I'm still seeing the old ads for most keywords. I've added a new group and excluded the new words from the old groups.

What could I have done wrong? (I did save the changes!) btw the new ads show up sporadically.

My guess is you have "Ad Optimization" turned on. If this is the case, your ad starts showing very slowly (assumedly to lessen the risk if it's a terrible ad!). If you want your ads to rotate equally, you can turn off the optimization.

Thanks. Turned optimization off and tweaked a bit further. Doesn't really help so far, still seeing the old ads. Perhaps it's because they are "strong" but I just don't want them for these particular keywords. The new ads are much more on topic.
