Ads that are appearing in our Inbox

We have had a Gmail account now for about 10 days.

Ads are now beginning to appear alongside the open inbox mail. We have been watching which ads are showing up expecting that some of our competitiors ads would show up as we know they are doing contents ads. For some reason Google is not picking up on the content of the mail.

We sent a few test messages with key words in the subject line as well as the body. We feel the ads that show up do not relate to the subject matter of the e-mail.

If they did we would want to be there.

To AWA: We would recommend that the ability to appear in Gmail be a separate option to "content". While we do not currently have content activated we would certainly like to appear along side e-mails dealing with our area.

It's disturbing to think that when we send a response to a Gmail client about our service that our competitiors ads would be alongside.

What are other members seeing?

I'll certainly pass these thought on, Tropical Island.

I thought we'd been all through this one ..?

As to relevancy... I've seen them coming in as extremely targetted and can say I'm actually surprised at how few mentions of a term it needs to "trigger" an ad...

Didn't go much on the concept and said so ..but.. so far I'm impressed ..

They even managed to serve up one for a native american business because of the use of the word indian in an incoming mail ( they did also serveup one for travel to india so maybe they were hedging their bets ) its more intelligent than I would have thought it could be ...

I'm surprised there is not more discussion here of the relevancy of what arrives ....or is it all happening "behind the curtain"..?
