Why Does It Take So Long...

...to activate a new account

It seemed I used to be able to turn on an Adwords account, and in a few hours start getting traffic, seeing stats, etc.

I have one new account I have been waiting almost 10 DAYS for now! If there is a mistake, it would be nice to know, but the billing info seems to have been accepted.

I had another account take about five days, and got accepted after I wrote support an e-mail.

Not sure if I am being picky here, but in my personal experience it is taking MUCH longer to start new accounts (and I usually start several per month for clients, so it is turning into a hassle).

Does anyone have advice on opening new adwords accounts and how to expediate the process?

We had the same exact issue two weeks ago, and the reply email said something about the account being placed on hold for review.

So, either it was a random thing where this account was delayed by chance ... or it's because it was bidding on a sensitive / competitive keyword (more competitive than we usually bid on for clients). I don't know.

Never had any probs getting started, always up n' running within a half hour sensitive keyords or not. Sometimes it takes a little longer for the ads to actually start to show, but not usually more than 2-3 hours abs max.

Has happened before. This is somewhat related to IP Waivers that eWhisper requested

If your new account is not collecting impressions within 1 hour, pick up the phone.

Heh, it amazes me how many people have a phone phobia. They'll sit there and steam for days and days while they wait for an e-mail reply when a simple phone call could probably correct the problem within minutes.

Can someone please pass along contact info for phone support? I guess I have never come across it (...just haven't done any digging for it).

... It's a book about this spanish guy called Manual. You should read it. heh.

Come on man, I'm not going to post a private number in a public forum - that number is only for AdWords subscribers and is only visible while logged in. Look around.
