I know the way to see how much my competitor has bid on keywords in overture. However, is there anyway to know how much my competitors have bid on Google?
Also, I would like to know if there is a way to know how many keywords my competitor are biding on?
Any ideas?
Thanks

not unless you can hack into their account, or are willing to make AWA your son-in-law

seriously, this is NOT possible.

although certain tools can give you a clue to what keywords they are bidding on ;)

!!

Personally, I would not recommend either course of action!

The only way I know how to find keywords my competitors are bidding on is by guessing and checking.

So the tools would be google.com and overture.com

You can change your bid and try to infer from that what your competitors are bidding. Inexact science at best, and some of them might be using automated bidding software and that'll make your task more difficult (or easier, depending on what you want to know).

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, oroderey!

I know the way to see how much my competitor has bid on keywords in overture. However, is there anyway to know how much my competitors have bid on Google?

It just occurred to me to say this, although I suspect most everyone already is aware of it:

On Overture, as I understand it, the only factor that determines your position is what you are bidding as compared to your competitors. For this reason, what your competitors are bidding is 'mission critical' information.

With AdWords, however, your Max CPC bid as compared to your competitors is only 50% of the equation the determines your position. The other 50%, of course, is your CTR as compared to your competitors.

And it's entirely possible for one advertiser to be appearing above another advertiser while actually paying less.

So, IMO, knowing your competitors bid is not particularly useful - although I know that many on the Forum don't really agree with me on this point. ;)

There are tools that will allow you to easily see which terms your competitors are bidding on as long as you can think of the terms! Whilst it does not give the answers, it can give clues. Is this what you are reffering to Shak?

You have to know your market and competition. In our case we only have really one competitor. They recently started an adwords campaign (drat!). The words they use are similar to ours, their ad is similar to ours.

I am certain they are getting *very* similar traffic. I imagine their CTR is similar to ours. With this info I can ascertain *roughly* what they are bidding.
