Where is number 1?

Does G count the sponsored links

Question for AWA, or possibly Shak who seems to be his UK assistant, if his well informed posts are anything to go by :)

When using the admittedly innacurate "traffic estimator" G will show that you're likely to be, say, position 2 if you bid $x.

Is this position 2 counting from the first Ad, or position 2 counting down from the first "sponsored link"?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it by searching.

OK, looks like we have to wait for your US assistant to get up then!

Unless of course, any of you mere mortals know?

Just try and see where you end up. As CTR is a major factor in your position this is hard to predict. This is very much a trial and error thing.

Yeah, thanks robsp, I know that already, having used Adwords for around 18 months now. Just wondered what they count as first place when offering their estimated positions.

Whew, sorry folks - this has been an amazingly busy week. I've only been able to get here for an hour or two each day. Have just a short time now, then hopefully back later in the day.

Good question.

I'm almost certain that only the 8 spots per page on the right hand side are considered & the top spots don't enter into the picture.

However, let me confirm this with someone techier than I am - and I'll post again later.

I have to agree; because, premium positions are what make your avg. position display as less than one.
