What do you use for project management and audit trails?

We're managing quite a few campaigns as a SEM company and most of them are Adwords based. Sofar we're using the Adwords reporting tools combined with excel to do reporting an analyses.

I'm missing tools to do "project Management" type actions such as when to check certain ad copy and audit checks like when did we add or remove a certain ad or keyword. With many campaigns to manage (and multiple people doing this) this becomes an issue.

Of course this can all be done in excel but I'd like to know what you are using for these type of tasks?
