Since using Adwords at the begining of this year my free listing rankings on Google have been almost impossible to improve. Before adwords the my listing for the phrase <snip> was ranked on the first page. i have done a lot to improve rankings in the last 5 months, every effort has gone into improving content and optimsationm i have used 'no bad tricks' that google say will be penalised. However my rankings have dropped off considerable and I find it almost impossible to improve
Is there anyone out there who can work out what is happening? My rankig on every search engine that does not use Google is ok? so its strange that the only one that I pay is actually ranking me poorly it at all?

[edit reason] no specifics please. [/edit]
Hey presto! The results returned my site on the front page where it was at the beginning of the year. It only shows one of my domains however and not the most appropriate domain that actually also contains the key phrase!
So what does this mean?
Without the text that you gave me the site does not appear until the 6/7 pages?
Seeing same thing as amanet when I use the exclusions. I reviewed the past strings on the Sandbox theory but am still not clear on how this works.
My site ranked at the top for two years for my particular product/subject matter on Google. However, beginning with a redesign in March, I'm at #41.
I know this is about Adwords, but can I get a little more insight into Sandboxing?
In the normal serps the #1 site is #2 and the #7 site is nowhere. I know that the problem is that these two sites are interlinked however as a service to searchers they can not be otherwise. They are two completely different sites covering different aspects of the same area.
Google has, IMHO, taken too strong an attack on this situation.
We support the 2nd site with AdWords so the effect is minimized.
In answer to the original thread AdWords does not affect placement. We get very good results on the first site that has a small AW program for a few obscure areas in which we don't appear on the first page.
I have 5 domains that all alias to the same place this seams sensible to me the company name .co.uk and two other industry keywords domains .co.uk and the .com. If this is a problem how do I get around it?
Incidently when using a different keyphrase and -asds -wrwer -wrew -sdfsdf -sdfsd -sdfsd -werwe -werewr my site apears in three positions on the first page and two on the second page linked to 4 of the domain names!
So this is all very good - how do I get out of the Sandbox?
