what's the most accurate way to link sales to AdWords reports?

Thanks in advance for your help--
We just started up and I'm checking my AdWords report and there's no reporting on sales.

I'm wondering--does that even exist within adwords? A true measure of return on investment can only come with a "revenue per conversion" figure.

In other words, we had spent X money to obtain Y conversions on a certain day--but got Z money back from those conversions. There's really not much point in knowing that our cost per conversion is a certain number because the true cost per conversion is dependent on the value of the sale minus the amount of money spent through AdWords to get that sale.

There's no way to differentiate what sales for that day came through AdWords vs. through other efforts.

I'm thinking this piece of info is too basic to be left out of AdWords, so maybe I missed something. Thanks again,
