Adwords traffic calculator doesn't work for me

Always quotes <1 click no matter how popular the KW is

I have used Adwords for awhile now and I have never had the traffic calculator work.

When I look up my KWs on Overture's search term suggestion tool, it tells me there are tens of thousands of queries for my KWs every month. However, when I set up my Adwords campaign the traffic estimator tells me to anticipate <1 impression per day. But, when I launch my campaigns I get hundreds or thousands of impressions per day and a ton of clicks.

This has been the case for every Adwords campaign I have set up. If I were a novice, I'd abandon the campaign because according to G's estimates the campaign isn't going to produce any noticeable results, which would have cost G thousands of dollars every month. I've learned not to pay attention to it, but it seems like G should be able to make a working traffic estimator.

The fact that it doesn't work isn't hampering my success, but it would be a great resource for my clients starting new campaigns to gather a realistic expectation for their ads.

Anyone else noticed this problem? Does the traffic calculator work for you when you set up a new campaign?

THAT THING NEVER WORKS! DON'T EVEN USE IT AS AN "ESTIMATOR".

I can't believe they still have that thing up. And without a disclaimer!

It would be very useful if the estimator worked. I would love to know the formula that it uses to come up with the results it does.

I'm sure it's on Google's to do list. We just have to be patient.

If everyone who wants Traffic Estimator to be accurate would write a thoughtful email to Google mgmt stating how accurate traffic estimation would directly improve Google's bottom line, we'd have a better chance of getting it high in their list of things to do.

Please do that; we have, but I don't think the din is as loud yet as it needs to be.
