Hi,

I just started advertising some keywords on Google. As I don't have a large budget I put in a bid price of 0.05.
Now, not much is happening, i.e. my ads don't get displayed, with Google displaying the average ranking between 6 and 10

- up to what rank does google display the ads? For example if my ad is ranked number 2 or 3 and Google displays the first 5 ranks, is my ad guaranteed to show up until my daily budget has been reached?

- what happens to ads below a certain rank? how often to they get displayed what logic uses Google to rotate them (if at all)?

- what happens when a broad matched ad with a high CPC 'clashes' with a more specific ad with a lower CPC? For example, someone types in 'red shoe strings'. Someone has put an ad in for the keywords 'red shoe strings' and has put a CPC of 0.15. Someone else has put in an ad for the keywords 'shoe string' with a CPC of 0.50? Which ad will rank higher?

- has anyone an opinion on the influence of ad postion on CTR? Do only the first one or two ads get clicked or is there no significant difference as long as the ad gets displayed?

Thank you for your help.

By the way: am I blind or is there no way to search the forums?

Most of these questions have been discussed in the past couple weeks, reading through some threads will give you a good overview.

Here's a recent one about which KW is shown:
[webmasterworld.com...] about how ads are displayed.

WW AdWords Library [webmasterworld.com] is a good info source.

This one is adding search to your WW pages:
