300% Ctr?

Noticed something interesting recently. If someone has their preferences for Google search set to open in another page, it is sometimes easy to miss the page opening there, and to click more than once. Apparently Google is not tracking this, as several clicks, on a single view, in less than a minute, ALL registered, and were billed.

It was a new listing, there were no other clicks in weeks after, though there were many views of it. The 300% CTR sort of says it all! Contacted Adwords support staff, they say that "flooding" is blocked.... someone else must have clicked also... 3x the number of views in a minute (well it took about 10 minutes to register, but then no other clicks for over a month!)

A little scary - someone could really run up a bill on a competitor with an itchy clicking finger!

How'd you figure this out? (Er..how did you first notice this?)

when I set up a new ad, checked to see if it came up, and did one test click - it opened in an already open (hidden window), and I didn't nootice that & clicked again. Right there I had 2 clicks on 1 view - a bit of experimenting (not too much, it gets expensive)yields the rest. I'm worried what someone could do with a well crafted little program.

Now in all fairness to Google, they may have fixed this, it was over a month ago that I warned them (and they said it wasn't true).

But how else do you get a 300% CTR?

Nominate a max spend per day, that will stop any financial disasters until you investigate the reasons. Have to check regularly though.

I have a fairly small amount allocated, but watched hits suddenly triple last month, with barely a few more customers actualy ordering/inquireing from the site.
Can't positively be sure of the reason, but it is annoying
