Hello everyone,

please could you help defining the best solution for solving some isssues related to Adwords administration and ethics in some kind of way :)

Situation:
- I have three different clients which like to have Adwords administrated by me
- Two of them are direct competitors
- I have one credit card to pay for all their campaigns
- Thay are paying me but all of them are interested in best results possible...
- I have one account and three different campaigns for all the clients
- Some of the keywords for the two competing clients are the same
Problem:
- Reading this forum and monitoring my campaigns I understood that there are no possibilities for all the ads appear at the same time if keywords are the same. Onle the best CTR ads will apper on search results. It also means that one or both competing clients are not happy with that :-)
- Business ethics. Google feature which not allow to display more that one ad at the same time from one account... competing clients both would like to have a possibility to compete using some of the same keywords...

I'm thinking about the making of three different accounts for the clients but I have only one credit card. Is it ok for Google? Will they accept one credit card information for all three accounts?

Can I avoid the problems above in some other ways?

Please, share your thoughts.

Thanks in advance.

I never use my credit card for a client. It is best that they use theirs - one less hassle for you including the practical difficulties you mentioned.

I would not sign up two closely competing clients at the same time but the same niche in different geographies would be OK.

Unfortunately it's not possible. They by from me full advertising services. One of them is Google Adwords. They do not see how much I'm paying.

So it's not an issue at the moment...

If you continue to expand, it could become an issue. Better to take care of long term problems in the short term before they become more complicated.

I think anallawalla said it well, one credit card per company, then they each can have their own account.

I personaly will never sign up two direct competitors, if their target markets are different - then maybe.

Because you are advertising each under one account, you've already limited their total exposure and soon will be the question of why is my ad only appearing some of the time.

Yes you are absolutely right. At the moment I can't have different credit cards so I'm considering using the same card for different accounts.

These tewo companies are from the same industry but advertising different products/servces.

I understand that it's not an idieal solution, but if it could be temporary solution?

May be I'll try to get official Google oppinion on this writing email to their support...

Thanks for helping.

Set up different accounts for clients in the same industry. Otherwise, if an account has the same keyword for multiple campaigns / ad groups then only one ad will be shown at a time.

Also, the AdWords system will gradually show the best performing ad for a particular keyword, so one client will lose out on impressions & clicks.

As far as overlapping accounts go then you need to be as transparent as possible to each client that you are already managing somebody in their sector.

We have one client (a manufacturer) who encourages their dealers to use us to manage PPC as it avoids bidding wars. However, the inventory for these guys is enormous, so the result is a better coverage of the market.

For a niche industry, with few keywords / impressions handling 2 clients in the same channel would be untenable as you would definitely be robbing Peter to pay Paul..
