International Ads - Do I have other options?

I was recently asked to display our current Google AdWords ads from google.com on google.de and google.fr ...

I called Google and was told that I have to actually write the ad copy in German and French respectively, then crate new accounts on adwords.google.de and adwords.google.fr.

Are there any other options available to me beside learning German and French within the next three days?

Thanks for the help!

If you want to show up in the adwords for those countries, just change your geotargeting and choose the "all languages" option.

I personally would not create campaigns targeting foreign language terms unless the site was available in that language.

I have a site in French and a site in German ... so the ads would point to those sites.

That said, if check the, say "All Languages" option in AdWords, will they automatically translate my ads for me?

Uh... nope. I would suggest you contact the translators of your site to write some creatives for you, or use the commercial exchange forum [webmasterworld.com].

Thanks for posting a clarification PatrickDeese. You are quite correct when you say:

Uh... nope.

Here is just a bit more detail:

If you select the 'All Languages' option, your ad will appear exactly as written to anyone using any of the various language interfaces of Google.

And it is worth mentioning that users of those other interfaces would need to have searched on your keywords as written, as well.

So, for example, if your ads and keyword list are written in English, then a person using the Japanese language interface would see your ad in English if they searched on your keyword in English.

However, if they searched on the Japanese translation of your English keyword, your ad would not appear.
