Web metrics tool says no visitors, google says 10 clicks

Is the web metrics tool wrong, or is Google wrong?

Our web metrics tool is saying that we had no visitors to a site of ours on Christmas Day (which is not surprising) yet our Google Adwords account is claiming that we had 10 clicks on our ads. If we had 10 visitors from adwords, then we should have 10 visitors shown on the web metrics tool.

The two conclusions that I'm entertaining are that either our web metrics tool is wrong (or went down that day) or that the figure Google is quoting is wrong. I haven't heard anything about Google giving the wrong figures (and indeed, would not accuse them of such).

Has anyone else encountered this? What can be the cause?

That's a good point, check your figures for the day before and the day after, if you can't find the extra 10 hits, ask Google to check into it.

If you have access to your logs, manually check them to see how many clicks there were from your ads.

Yeah, there's really no substitute for looking at your raw log file. Amazing how much you can learn.
