Whenever I try to run an adwords report for more than a few day's data - it goes to the "please wait" screen for about 10 minutes - then ends with an timeout error (and a lot of cursing).
I've had an adwords account for over a year - I've got around 6 active campaigns with a total of around 50 adgroups.
I've already tried only running reports for just the active campaigns / ad groups / keywords and only including the data I'm really looking for. Still typically hit the same problem.
Sometimes I can get the report to run if I specify a shorter (couple weeks) window - but there's a point where they pretty much become useless (I need to work with more data than that). Right now I can't even get it to report for more than a single day without timing out.
I know I can schedule the reports to be sent via e-mail - but it kind of breaks up the train of thought if your having a brainstorming session on how to tweak your campaign.
AdWordsAdvisor - if you're listening... What would be really useful is some sort of indicator how long the report is going to take to generate. If it's going to be obscenely long (and likely timeout) - maybe an option to run the report in the background then e-mail the completed report to the user when it finishes?
Anyone have any ideas on this? (hopefully besides running a seperate report for each of my 50 adgroups)
