A new company has just launched new software (AdSubtract)that will block all Contextual and Search Text Ads from the users screens.

Not only will AdWords suffer but AdSense etc. The new company has targeted the main players such as Google, Yahoo! (Overture) etc. The screen shots at [searchenginelowdown.com ] (If I can't link to this image please delete this URL) show the Google search results without AdWords. Very bad news for advertisers and Google.

What does everyone think? First Pop UPs (which I am fine with) now text ads. Are they going too far with this?

Longer thread here [webmasterworld.com]

I think many people have more of an issue with programs like Norton Internet Security since it has ad blocking automatically enabled when it is installed.

Blech. I've never found a webpage with Adsense annoying. Popups are irritating because you have to manually close them. There's no good reason to block a part of somebody's webpage. If ya don't like the ads, you can leave... but it ought to be a package deal.
