Is anyone aware if there are any issues with bidding on popstars/rockstars names with google adwords to drive traffic?

We have had some issues with using brand names for certian products and services which is acceptable from a copyright perspective.

Thanks,

Paul

I've done it a number of times for various clients. Only once did the famous person ask that we not advertise on their name.

Usually these haven't worked too well, unless the name of the famous person is very closely related to the subject area.

Depends on if you are violating a trademark/copywrite etc. and if the company/person decides to contact G and make a fuss about it. I have seen examples of using brand names etc with no problems. I have also seen people receive letters from G and the company/individual. G usually discontinues your ad and warns you.

It is quite a bit different to use a creative that is triggered by a person/product name than to have a creative that uses that person/product name.

Again many thanks for the advice. Agreed in terms of relevancy, also we have had a few responses from google.
