Right now our company is still growing; we are not internet-based. We would like to increase our internet exposure, but for right now we just don't have the funds to do extensice PPC advertising. Therefore, we have a budget of only $7.50 per day on adwords, but it never stops at $7.50! For example, today its alreay over $14! Thats almost 100% over what we told it to do. Does anyone know the reason for this? This should be illegal. Why even put the option in there if they are not going to follow it. This is very misleading to say the least if they do have a reason for doing this.

From their Questions and Answers in their site:

Sets a cap on your monthly spending
We may charge you more or less than your daily budget in a day, but we will never charge you more than your monthly budget (daily budget x days in the month) for any given month.

It is not like they are trying to pull a fast one on you.

Hi budbiss,

the Adwords program allows for daily charges that can be more or less than the daily budget. However, their FAQ says that they will never charge:

more than your monthly budget (daily budget x days in the month) for any given month.

For more information on daily and monthly budgets, see the Adwords FAQ, in the pricing and billing section.

That cap is also per campaign. So if you have multiple campaigns, each with it's daily budget, your total could be higher for your entire account per day.

Ssshhhhh!

Go to your billing section at the end of the month. Check out your billing section. Now run your eyes down the credits column and you'll see a credit for Overcharge.

Dude, it's a freebie.

What do you want, no more freebies?

Sssssshhhhhh!

Hmmm...I don't see any credits. Maybe I will have to give them a call.

overdrive - what it appears to be is that you calculate your daily budget multiplied by the days in the given month and that is your monthly budget. So, my daily budget is 7.50 a day and there are 31 days in December, therefore my monthly budget is $232.50. So what everyone is saying basically is that I should be credited for anything I am charged over that. If you ask me, its a very interesting way of making you have a good chance of always reaching your maximum spending amount. Guess thats how they do things in advertising.

How about if my campaign is for a week only? not a month.
Would they go over my limit for 7 days straight and get me to pay extra?

I really don't understand why they have to make it so difficult. My limit says 7.50. So dont go over 7.50 thats its. SIMPLE.
